Wahoo's app now records rides on Apple Watch with paired Bluetooth sensors

By insidebike

Wahoo released version 7.0.1 of its Wahoo app on 8 September with an Apple Watch app that records rides, runs and indoor sessions from the wrist. The App Store listing requires iOS 18 and watchOS 11 or later, and the watch app installs alongside the iPhone app.

The useful part for cyclists is sensor pairing: heart-rate monitors, power meters, speed and cadence sensors, and Wahoo’s KICKR RUN treadmill connect inside the watch app, and the activity lands in the same Wahoo history as ELEMNT rides. Apple Watch has no ANT+ radio, so only Bluetooth sensors qualify. Wahoo calls it an entry point to its training platform, not a bike-computer replacement.

Recording, sensor connections and history are on the free tier. Core at US$4.99 a month adds training load and trends; Pro at US$17.99 a month adds plans, recommendations and the SYSTM app. Wahoo told BikeRadar that readiness and recovery metrics fed by watch sleep and heart-rate data follow later this year. Reporting based on published information; we have not tested the app.
