Factor Elara keeps 2x gearing, but its widest tyres need 1x
By insidebike
Factor launched the Elara on 4 September with a useful choice for gravel racers: electronic 1x or 2x gearing. But its specifications give different tyre limits: 57 mm with one chainring, 47 mm with a front derailleur. The widest tyres and a double chainset are not the same configuration.
Factor says a reshaped drive-side chainstay and seat tube make the packaging possible, with room for a 52-tooth chainring in a 1x build. The practical consequence is simple: choose your gearing and tyre requirements together before settling on a build.
The launch announcement quotes €7,199 for the premium frame package, available through selected retailers and Factor’s website. Check the regional package before ordering. These are manufacturer specifications; we have not tested the bike or measured its tyre clearance.
